I imported a 67 caprice from california,

Today it started making a weird noise. can someone help me identify?
I'm a newb and all the help would be appreciated!

it started right after I refilled the powersteering pump which was dry (I have leak)

If the power steering pump was out of fluid, you may have damaged it. Get a mechanic's stethoscope and start the engine. Hold the stethoscope probe to the power steering pump and see if the noise is coming from there. Have someone turn the steering wheel in both directions lock to lock and see if that causes the noise to increase.

 

turning the wheel lock to lock a few time with cap ont powersteering pump unscrewed like suggested in the engine subforum did the trick.

I guess I got lucky this time. Still have to find the leak though...
