New from Texas
Signed up in case I need help with a new 2018 Silverado 2500HD I got. Had a 01 1500 for years but I was really over loading the poor thing. So I'll see what happens trying to do the right thing for a change. Already I hate the fuel mileage.
Heck, all 3/4 ton pickups get lousy gas mileage. Its the price we pay for having a pickup that can tow or haul more then 2000 pounds with ease!
Yep. But you would think by now they be able to have tunes that would get good mileage when not towing and another that gets poor mileage when towing. 10mpg sucks but I guess I'm still in break-in mode too. I did punch it after getting 500 miles on it and notice it stops cold at 100mph. Is that more safety factor for break-in or it that the way it is even though the speedo as 140mph on it? 140 seems very optimistic for sure even after break-in.

I would think that a two-speed rear axle, like some medium-duty trucks have, would help with gas mileage, but on a four-wheel drive it would just be more parts to break and add even more weight and cost.
I don't know if the ECM is set up to switch to a higher speed limit after break-in, but my 1998 Chevy 4x4 will do 122 MPH, before the speed limiter kicks in.
