Ordered a Chevy
Other than my 1999 GMC Top Kick (55 foot High Ranger bucket with utility bed) have not owned a GM product since a 1972 Chevelle as a teenager. It was one of those cars that without trying to be cute my school mates named it the "Hell Chevelle" as anyone who rode it it believed they would end up in hell before getting out of it alive.I made better money as a teen than most adults I knew by working hard and my parents thought it a clunker was in the shop so often but just didn't want them to know how much money I was spending on it. Growing up in Dawsonville Georgia (home of Bill Elliott) only thing we had to do in the 1970s was street race or drink moonshine. The car became so outrageous could not even keep a Cliff Shaw transmission from grenading so pulled the engine, sold the car and eventually put the motor in a 3/4 ton truck. Except for the bucket truck my last seven trucks have been Mopars.
Even with newer and nicer trucks my favorite work truck is a 1993 Dodge Dakota 4x4 as well as a 1991 Dakota as my other trucks are too big for many job sites and Ford Ranger/Toyota Tacoma size trucks too samll. Dodge abandoning the Dakota mid size is reason not purchased a new work truck in some time but it has finally become time so have a special order Chevrolet Colorado 4WD WT with V6, 8 speed auto, 2 speed transfer case, limited slip rear axle, towing package, skid plates, power upgrade option (cold air intake and cat-back exhaust), etc. Basically added every option that increases power, beefs up suspension and makes it the strongest work truck a Colorado can be off the factory floor. On the flip side has vinyl seats, and only the necessary electronics such as cruise control, power adjustable mirrors, trailering package with the gadget making getting the ball under trailer tongues easy, smaller touch screen, but did order it in red as all my Mopars are red.
Not having owned a modern GM ever probably going to have a lot of questions so figured I better meet some folks while it is being built as could not find a truck optioned the way I wanted. All minimalist trucks with long beds seem to have four bangers and anything with power usually has four doors, no usable bed and a ZR1 or ZR2 package. This is going to be interesting and hope the truck works as good as intend it to.
