Thumbs up Rare-1951 Chevy Deluxe Sports Coupe-59K Original Miles-Allentown PA

1951 Chevy Deluxe Sports Coupe; acquired from estate auction with a one owner history. This work of art is 100% all original except for it’s 7 year old paint job. The elderly gentleman who owned it didn’t want anything shiny nor did he want a rat rod black/grey. So he decided to paint this treasure himself. Being he owned a 40 plus acre farm it seemed fitting to him to paint it a matte John Deere green with an off white two tone. This Deluxe is 100% American!!!!!

This Deluxe has 59,300 original miles. The engine is the legendary strong Blue Flame 6 cylinder. It's 235 cubic feet and this larger engine was only provided in the automatic. In fact this car has the same engine and transmission as the first year Corvette. Everything works except for the horn and AM radio. I have a strong feeling it’s simply the wiring. There is no rust. It is all original down to every pane of glass and it’s 6 volt system. I mean it even has a push start ignition and you can take the keys out while it is running. It was tuned and lubed 2 months ago, brakes are good, exhaust is new, battery is new, and so on. This Deluxe runs very smooth. To some degree it’s smoother than newer cars. We recently drove it twice for 45 minutes on I78 at 55 MPH with ease. Please note, this Deluxe is not in perfect condition and does show it’s age just like an antique should.

In the attached pictures you will notice the original window sticker (I also have the pink slip and will share in person). This document is extremely important for numerous reasons. One being it’s authenticity to it’s uniqueness. This Deluxe is more unique than any other Deluxe model that year. This car is not a 2 door Sedan, nor a Business Coupe without a backseat, nor a Bel Air. It is a 2 door Sport Coupe. The back passengers windows slide in and the trunk is longer giving it a sportier look. There are 3 other key and valuable differences with this Deluxe. The rear fender mohawk chrome crown molding (also only in 1951 and very limited based on the Korean War; Rear top of fender trim? - ChevyTalk - FREE Restoration and Repair Help for your Chevrolet), the gas tank door has a lock on it, and the Golden Gazelle (Impala) hood ornament. This is original and is stated as an extra on the window sticker. Below are links verifying it was only available for a 1951 and the first year an Impala was ever used. Typically the hood ornaments are airplanes. So this 2 door Chevy Sports Coupe with an Impala as it’s hood ornament one might say is truly the first Impala. HHHMMM, starting to make sense now how it plays out years later-1958.
Just A Car Guy: Hood ornament identification guide, if it ain't here, don't ask me. I don't know. NO, I don't know what your hood ornament is worth. Look on Ebay.

On top of this, it is also a PowerGlide automatic that is limited in production and performs historically very well. This was the 2nd year of this once very popular automatic transmission. In 1951 the National Production Agency placed quotas on the number of automatic transmissions built to save aluminum and scarce steel alloys for the Korean War effort. In fact, the agency cut Chevrolet’s installation rate on this option from 40 percent to 35 percent and held it there despite two appeals by General Motors. The below site provides further information on the history and sudden uptick in interest on the Chevy Deluxe.

Now the cherry on top. This Deluxe is registered as an antique with the state of Pennsylvania. Upon purchase, if registration continues in PA the antique tags can transfer to the new owner. Antique tags have very special and unheard of perks such as not having annual inspection, emission, or registration. Basically this Deluxe will be free and clear to be driven year after year. Please note you do not have to transfer the registration as an antique. However, this is a valuable option to keep in mind.
Below you will find a few links on it’s value. https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuati...ecial?id=18622

Notice recently this exact car flew to the top of Hagerty ratings to the number 5 spot of collector vehicles. The value for this Deluxe is only going up and it appears to be sooner than later. My goal is to sell the Deluxe at a built in equity price so that someone else can take it to it’s final optimum level. This Deluxe is perfect for someone who wants an aged original car, someone who wants to restore to perfect original condition, or someone who wants to convert to a rat/hot rod. It is like an open palette for a car artist. YouTube has a ton of cool videos on the Deluxe models.

One last thing, if you like an old car smell this car has just a hint of it. There is truly no other car like this one. I am forced to sell for financial reasons.

I’m a little nervous selling this Deluxe with there being a serious chance it’s value is worth more than I realize. Sight unseen by our insurance agent, this Deluxe is currently insured at $15,000. I am asking $10,900. and/or trade for 4 seat convertible, and open to offers.
