I have a 1999 Silverodo 1500. My transmission light indicator on the steering column has been out for some time and came back on shortly for a while. Yesterday I used the truck just fine. When I tried to turn it on again all I get is a clicking noise under the dash and it will not turn over. I checked the battery and its fine. Is this an electrical short or could it be ignition switch?

 

I'd look at the starter solenoid. Way I do it is with a screwdriver across the main, and starter switch terminal.
