I have a 2010 Chevy Malibu LT which I bought used. When I flip through info on DIC, it shows tire pressure monitor but it does not show the what is the tire pressure in each of my tires. I have tried to reset the tpms by following the instruction of the owner's manual. I hold down the lock and unlock button simultaneously but nothing happened. Anyone else had these problem before? Any suggestion?
As you can see that it does show the tires but doesn't show the pressure
I have a 2015 Malibu and my TPMS system works a little differently. When the "relearning" process is begun, the mechanic goes to each wheel in the same order as yours, but uses a TPMS Relearn Tool and places it next to each valve stem and presses a button on the relearn tool which sends a signal to the tire sensor and the matching is done in that way. In both my case and yours, each tire pressure sensor (which is connected to the valve stem) runs on a small individual battery, like a watch battery and when the battery runs down, the sensor itself is dead and needs to be replaced. The small battery inside cannot be replaced separately. I'd take your car into the dealer and see if the tire sensors themselves need to be replaced. (I personally got a better deal from a Tires Plus dealership and they would replace the sensor for about $80 while my dealership wanted twice as much.)
