Default 1965 Nova SS Engine Question

Had a question, brand new here. Found a 65 Nova SS and it has a 350 crate in it. The part number is 809-10067353.

I tried to find full specs on this motor but not really sure since I found conflicting information. Would like to know the specs on this motor such as HP and torque. Thanks

327 Horsepower stock. Couldn't find the toque, but you can lite up the rear tires real easy, particularly if you have a stick!

Hi oilcanhenry thanks for the details. I did more research last night and found this on a website:

GM Goodwrench 350ci Crate Engine; Replacement for 809-10067353; 195 HP ( Can produce up to 260 HP); 4-Bolt Main; 3-Year/100,000-Mile Warranty;

That is the part number and it only lists 190HP and up to 260HP.

I called Jegs and gave them the part number and they told me 250HP 305 torque

That was using the old HP numbers, long abandoned now. The new HP numbers are far more accurate. With a 9.5 to 10.5, compression ratio and a Holley 4-barrel carb, 250 HP is WAY too low to be a true number.

Thanks oilcanhenry, I think you're right based on my driving of it.

I had another question but is related to the gas pedal in this particular car. The gas pedal only has about an inch or two of travel in it before it bottoms out and hits the metal so to speak. The travel distance is so short it makes me worried the motor is not fully opened up when the pedal is fully depressed. So my question is this something people do to set up the gas pedal so the travel distance is shorter? Or is there something wrong with the gas pedal setup and the linkage is too short for some other reason?

Not at all. Back when carburetors ruled the day, there should be a adjustment either on the carburetor, or on the gas pedal.
