Default 1977 Nova SS?

Looking at buying a Chevy Nova with a production date of 5/77 it has SS emblems in the middle of the grill 350 motor 4 speed standard but while i'm trying to research it I'm finding out Chevy never made an SS Nova in 77? Is this true?

I am thinking is it a chevy II, if so, not a 77 model rather 67 would have been the last production year or there abouts

It was the ChevyII/Nova from 1962 till 1968. In 1969 the ChevyII was dropped and only called Nova. In 1976 the SS was dropped and the name changed to Nova Rally. Checkm the link.

"Old Chevy" is correct. In late '76, I ordered a '77 only to find out the SS was discontinued and replaced by a "Rally". That didn't do it for me. So I placed the order for a Custom with all the Super Sport options that were available the prior year. Buckets, console, 14x7 wheels, F41 suspension and 350-4. I added a SS grille later. Kept it 20+ years. The only way to find out what you've really got there is to decode the VIN.
