#8 plug, "plugged up!"
Hello everyone, i'm new to the sight, been looking to join one.
My name is Jim, i have a 1972 Nova with a 406CI SBC 4 speed.
I've never been able to tune for some time now, running rich, changed carbs, pops out right bank at about 4000rpm, pulled 4 of the plugs all black wet looking and the #8 plug was completely engulphed in a tar like substance, which i believe is oil and fuel possibly, so i was essentially on 7 cylinders. What a difference when i changed that plug!
The engine doesnt smoke, has approx 2000km on it.
This is what i believe it could be, oil coming through intake bolt holes, intake gasket to valley, valve seals, rings........i think a leakdown test will tell a tale......just dont want to start tearing things apart if i dont have to........
