Post 2003 Tahoe w/headlight, etc. problem

Hi All, I'm new here and I have a problem with my 2003 Tahoe. My headlights, DTR lights, fogs, and dimmer switch aren't working. However, when I use the turn signal arm, pull it forward, my high beams work. The parking lights work, interior lights work when I open or close the doors, and the power locks work fine. Could this problem be caused by the dimmer switch? I've asked multiple mechanics and have been told, "No, that would not be the cause." I feel it mat be however, I wanted to get your opinion as it seems every mechanic, even mine, are just out for the money. I'd really appreciate some feedback on this and I hope I'm posting in the correct area.
Thank you in advance for your help with this. I don't want to pull out the switch in the even it' wouldn't cause this problem with my lights.

dimmer switch will not cause a problem for the dtrl, fogs, headlights...the dimmer switch is on a different circuit...for interior lights only.

the dtrl must be checked in drive, engine running...in daylight, ebrake off...any other conditions will shut them off.
your vehicle has separate bulbs for each hi, low and dtrl correct?

Hi tech2,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, they all have separate bulbs. If the dimmer switch is for the inside only, then why does it control all my lights? I can use it to turn off my dtrl, headlights, and to turn on my high beams. There's a small green light that shows if the switch is working however, it's not on anymore. Is there a fuse for that switch that I'm overlooking? I've checked the dtrl during the day (no ebrake), just sitting in front of a white wall and they're not on, only the parking lights are on now. Here's what I've found it being called for my Tahoe:
"2003 Chevrolet Tahoe Headlight/Instrument Panel Dimmer and Dome Light Switch". I also find it odd that my high beams work when I use the turn signal arm. If they're all on a different circuit, why would they be working? This is the first Chevy I've ever owned, I'm a Ford person and always have been. I just bought it out of the blue because I loved the look of it.
Thank you again for replying.

it looks like the dimmer and headlight switch are part of the same assembly. if the dimmer is controlling your headlights...the switch could be shorted internally.

Yes, the headlight is part of the same assembly, I apologize if I wasn't clear enough on that. However, I went and bought one, tried it, and it didn't work. Luckily the kid that sold it to me said I could bring it back if it didn't work (returned it). So, still have the same problem. The fogs work, when I turn the switch to the high beam mark, they work, but nothing else does. The green light is on (mine is the original OEM part with the indicator light) so I'm guessing maybe the ground coming from the battery going to the headlights? Sound plausible to you? Just trying to check all the obvious before I 'have' to take it to the mechanic and have him charge me an arm & a leg!
