Default 2009 Suburban turned a corner it died with a terrible clicking noise

3 weeks ago I bought a 2009 Suburban 2500 4x4 with 124k miles. Today I was driving and went to turn and it died making an awful clicking noise. I put it in park and turned the engine off and it was still making the clicking noise! It finally stopped after about 45 seconds and then I went to start the Suburban and it started and drove home fine. I can't find anything close to what happened to me but am hoping to find an answer here because I am so scared it's going to happen again and would like to fix it before it does! Thanks!

Since you have a 4x4, I'll assume you have a push-button shift, which is my best guess. It could have been some sort of malfunction with that system, considering you have an automatic transmission. Are there any leaks or damage you can see?

I have the turn **** for 4x4 which I haven't used yet. My 98 Durango was manual (I don't trust *****/buttons!) There is a small oil leak that's in 3 different spots left in my driveway, not nearly as much as I've dealt with in my past vehicles and I do have a few other issues though. The Suburban was great for 2 weeks but now 2 days ago seems like the A/C bogs down and fluctuates the RPMs when running. Not always just random. Also a week ago hit or miss some days yes and some its fine. When I start the Suburban it'll smoke out of the tail pipe for 5 seconds. "Friend" that is a mechanic said the next time i get an oil change put something in and it'll fix that. I had just gotten an oil change. He told me the smoke is spillage that is being burnt off?! I dont know. But I make sure all my neighbors are in before I start my car because it's a bit embarrassing when I just bought a car! Damn it!

I know what you mean about ***** and buttons! My 1998 Chevrolet 4x4 Silverado is a five-speed stick with floor-mounted 4WD engagement, all manual-shift. As to your smoke issue, your piston rings are likely on the worn-out side of things, but 5 seconds of smoke isn't all that much oil. My worry would be the catalytic converter going bad do to excessive consumption of motor oil.

They make a host of chemicals sold at auto part stores that might help, as you may only have some rings that are not sealing the cylinders properly, and they claim to free these rings up, due to carbon deposits and lack of proper oil changes by the previous owner, as well as using cheap fuels. Some are added to the motor oil, and others to the gas tank fuel supply.
