Default 350 Chev - 600 Holley Problems

Hi All,

I have a 1978 Holden Kingswood running a 350 Chev with a 600 Holley (4160)
Weiand manifold with a 4 port 2" spacer and hill born bonnet scope.

The car sits around and is not a daily driver. This week i got the car road legal and decided to take it for a spin.
I added new plugs, oil change + filter and filled the gas tank to FULL and off i went.

About 40 minutes into my drive, the car jerked a couple of times so i pulled over and then the motor just died, the car normally runs very very well.
I tried to crank over a few times but no luck, the tow truck came and took it back home.

After i got home i tried to start the car again, it started but was running very rich and would not hold its idle.
Lots of black smoke, moisture and black soot, not running at all like normal, running like pig.

Looked into the carb and WAY to much fuel, fuel even coming from the over flow at the top of the carb, after removing the dipstick i also noticed the smell of fuel in the oil.
Pretty sure its not a fuel pressure problem as it is just running a stock standard mechanical pump, the carb i brought brand new 10 years ago and it hasn't really driven much at all in those 10 years.

I removed one plug which was super black, no oil but i haven't checked the rest.
As mentioned the car was purring away and then just died, it wasn't over heating or anything sinister like that.

Any thoughts? or should i just change the oil and filter and service/kit the 600 holley?

Cheers
