98 Lumina 3.1
Hello,
I just replaced a coolant temp sensor in my lumina last night. Everything seemed ok, until I was driving to work this morning. I noticed that my engine was much hotter than usual. I pulled over an saw that all of my coolant was gone. After closer inspection, it looks like where the sensor goes in, the casing it cracked on the bottom (below the sensor). IF this is indeed a crack, is it fixable or do I need to now replace the head? I have yet to see coolant coming out from here, but if it's cracked further down, I guess it could be coming out there as well.
Thanks
Mark

I had to replace my radiator in my 96. The outside look like ABS plastic. Mine would leak, added barrs leak, then the leak would move somewhere else. Reason sugggested dip stick is 3.1 are notoriuos for lower manifold leaks. Thats another thing I had to do. The coolent was getting into the oil.
Well the tread metal of the coolant temp sensor is definitely cracked. Not sure how far down tho. Im guessing that's where my coolant went. I wonder if my thermostat froze up since it got hotter than normal.
Is the coolent getting in the oil? If thats the case you will need to replaced the gaskets, I STRONGLY recommend replacing the O rings on the fuel rail when you go back together. They are $$, but it is important.
