Buy used or new these days? The average lady
What is the key for buying a used car these days, would you be able to recommend a selection of models and their years? Is it a better investment to buy a new car now a days? I know this is all preference too, but I wanted to hear from car enthusiasts about what they would suggest for a person who is less familiar with vehicle maintenance. I find that buying an old car currently appears less sensible than it was when I was buying my first car years ago. They seems to not last as long and can be troublesome right from the get go. The most I remember with used cars being an issue were the tires and maybe the a/c. It all could be coincidence, and maybe I was lucky, but from what I have been witnessing from others, the maintenance requirements now, from the beginning, make the idea of investing in a new vehicle more worthwhile. For the average person, I mean. Of course there are always vehicles that require maintenance when purchased, but there seem to be many that only last a few years. Maybe they didn't take the proper time to check the vehicles, but that's why I am here. Have things changed, or is investing in an older vehicle still worthwhile. Are there a selections that meet expectation? Expectation being, lasting about eight years without heavy maintenance (such as rewiring, transmission, engine block leaks/hoses, etc.). Timing belt, brakes, tires, suspension; maybe even a water pump; seem to be common to fix, so that wouldn't be a huge issue I am expecting to avoid. Thank you.
