Default Does not stay running

I have a 1983 Chevy van g20 aviator passenger conversion van has a 305 engine and it runs and idles good as soon as I start to drive it a mile or two it dies and doesn't start for half hour to an hour I've change the spark plugs and the wires and did a thorough cleaning of the carburetor I cannot figure out what's wrong with this thing please somebody help

could be your ignition module thats crapping out.ignition modules were a know failure on the older ignition systems.it could be something else.if i were you check for spark right away when it happens at least it will be a place to start.hope this helps.

I'm going to second the ignition module opinion. It's not that expensive of a fix and it does sound like it should do the trick.

Make sure to put the dialectric grease on the back of the module that comes with it.if you don,t it will shorten the life of the ignition module.
