DRAC module modernization on 1993 Chevy G30 van chassis
I have a small Class C RV built on a 1993 G30 van chassis. Over the past two years I've had multiple DRAC module issues; the module fails, the vehicle stays in a certain gear, and I pull over and replace the module with a spare I keep, then get on down the road for a few months until it happens again. When the DRAC goes out you are slowed to a much less than highway speed and it will not shift out of whatever gear it seems to land in. I've had several transmission shops that couldn't figure out what the issue was, which is surprising. This never happened on this vehicle until 2023, when the original DRAC went bad. Now it's happened three times since then with replacement DRAC'S obtained from UD Module, who rebuilds then resells them. If you don't purchase a rebuilt DRAC configured for your wheel size and rear end gearing, your speedo will be way off.
I heard from a friend that Summit Racing has some sort of modernization part/harness that eliminates the DRAC module and creates a more stable/reliable/dependable situation.
Can anyone recommend what this may be, or how to modernize this archaic system??
Thanks!
Paul

I should also add that my problem appears not to be the DRAC module specifically. After obtaining an old school OBD 1 code reader, I receive a code #37, which appears to be one or more of the following options:
- Erratic left rear speed signal, or erratic VSS signal (1993).
- TCC brake switch error.
I don't want to be disparaging to UD Module here in Texas where I bought the replacement DRAC that was calibrated to my tires and rear end. I sent this module back to UD Module for testing, and the DRAC tested fine. So, it's something else possibly relating to the two code possibilities noted above.
