Default Fender Skirts- 49 Chevy

Hi everyone.

Question about the 1949 Styleline. Did all the cars come with fender skirts, were they an option, or did none of them have them and they were an aftermarket item?

I've been looking, for some time, for a 49 Deluxe, but in the barest of bare bones. Not the business coupe with the small quarter window, but the regular coupe with the big quarter window. I'm trying to recreate my home town's original police car.

I have a picture of the original car, it has no trim whatsoever on the side, but it has this big side window. No skirts. I've found a car that comes closest so far to what I'm looking for, it's a Deluxe with the spear on the front, but it has skirts. If I simply take the skirts off, will there be stampings in the quarter panel where they sit, like on an Oldsmobile or a Buick? Or are they Foxcrafts that will just fit and clamp into the opening? I haven't actually seen this car yet, and don't want to journey three states away if it isn't going to be what I want.

So yes, if I bought this car the skirts would come off, the trim would come off, and the minimal writing would go on the door.

Thanks everyone.

No one? I thought this was an easy question.

No matter, I have an updated question. I've been second guessing what I'm seeing in my picture of the original police car, and it is the barest of bare bones. No trim around the windshield, no scripts. Did the big quarter window car ever come that plain? I've never seen one that plain.

Actually, did the business coupe ever come that plain? Never seen one sans trim, either. Was there a model specifically for professional use, that deleted the trim?
