Default I hope I can get a question answered.

I hope the picture posts. I was going to replace the long cable that pulls the rear drum shoes as part of the emergency / parking brake. I am going to have to run a die over the attachment threads before I can get access to the cable to replace it. The nut that tightens the adjuster is 1/2" across the flats, but I was hoping someone with 1981 C10 experience could tell me what the correct thread pitch would have to be to clean up the threads?

Thanks in advance.

Take the nut off and take it with you to match it to the correct die.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear on this. Because the threaded part of the adjustment rod is packed full of dirt, corrosion and whatever else binds 37 year old threads, the nut is running into all of the trash on the rod and is getting thread-bound. It is already a jam-style nut, and it won't come off. I have to chase the threads down to where it is before I can remove it. A wire brush won't work well enough from what I can see to make any difference.
