Default wear pattern

I bought a 1995 C1500 W/T about ten years ago and spent time restoring it to where it is a decent looking truck... but now I need to fix a couple more issues and thought I would just toss them out and hope someone has been there/done that and has some creative ideas/fixes... any help/suggestions are appreciated...

First issue... when I bought the truck the bench seat showed a very thread bare area on the seat bottom where the driver initially hits when you get in.... So I decided to get an old fashioned saddle blanket seat cover to just hide the problem.... and that worked, for this amount of time but now, this seat cover has the exact same wear problem as the original seat... and is probably a little worse in that it actually wore through and has a large hole in it. So I bought a new saddle blanket seat cover from Advance Auto and will install that today replacing the seat cover with the hole in it... but, has anybody figured out a fix for this problem of the seat and covers wearing away? I am thinking of taking some of the torn seat cover and adding a layer to the new seat cover in that area.... but thought I would ask and see if there is some other intervention I should try,,.,,

Second issue. ... When I bought the truck the seller said that he had a problem with the radio causing the battery to go dead when he didn't use the truck for two/three days... so after researching the problem, he pulled the fuse that controls the memory of the radio... The radio still functioned, but when the ignition was turned off, the radio would revert to the defaults and you had to manually turn to the station of your choice if you wanted to listen to the stereo which is OK.... but annnoying... I just removed a decent single din stereo from my sports car that I installed decades ago to upgrade but this old stereo would work in the Chevy if I can fix one problem... The current OEM stereo is a double din (twice the size of the stereo I would like to add)...... Has anybody removed the old large double din stereo and bought a kit that works for installing this smaller single din stereo?

Thanks for your help....
