04 S10 suddenly running rough at idle ONLY WHEN IN GEAR.
1. I inherited this truck with a couple error codes regarding "lean bank" on both sides. I cleared those codes and drove the truck for 6 months with really no issues. Suddenly last week it starts rumbling bad at stop lights and signs, but it runs fine when I'm giving it gas going down the road.
So I googled around at the codes and a lot of into pointed to a vacuum leak, maybe the intake gaskets. So without properly checking for any leak (no smoke test etc) , I just bought the parts and dug in. A full weekend of working on it and a few trips to the store for tools I didn't have, I finally got it done and fired it up, still runs like **** at idle in gear. No change.
I've checked all the vacuum lines as far as I can see and they look ok. No significant breaks or cracks. I must reiterate, it only chugs and rumbles when drive or reverse is engaged, not in neutral or park. So "load on the engine" right?
IDK where to begin. There are no codes or anything triggered yet, but I've only driven it a few miles.
2. I replaced the thermostat while I was doing the job (yes correctly) but the gauge now didn't budge as I drove it. Its over 105 degrees where I live so I know the truck was supposed to be getting nice and toasty but the gauge just sat at 100 degrees and never moved the entire test drive. What did I miss?
