1989 S10 Pickup aftermarket radio
First time poster here
. Just got this truck for free and just wanted to see what you guys had to say about some things.
Well first of all i recently purchased a new receiver for the truck from crutchfield (so it came with the necessary harnesses and in-dash kit) and when i took off the trim on the dash surrounding the radio, i don't really know how to take it out while keeping what i need in there. Looks real complicated but im sure its not if i had a diagram or something. I know crutchfield usually provides this diagram but its really vague and im not sure i understand it.
Thanks!

Ok so this can get complicating fast so let me ask first off if you have ever replaced a radio. Second is it a aftermarket or is it similar to the pre existing? I will try to draw a diagram to the best of my ability for you ok.
Ok good that saves me a lot of worthless typing lol. Best thing to do is to take the wire harness they provided and start mating up plugs. I am really not positive as to how those 89’s are set up dash wise if you had a picture I think I could be able to show you.
Usually the plugs that plug into the wire harness are plugged directly into the old radio but like I said things could be different. Once you figure out the plugs and such its easy just take the wire harness and the bundle of wires that plugs into the radio mate them up and would suggest getting some wrap or something for around the wires it just cleans it up in the dash. Plug the wire harness into the dash harness and then the radio harness into the radio and test it before you put the dash kit and everything in.
There is nothing worse than putting it all together and having to take everything apart. On my S-10 the dash is held in by little screws and it is a pain to try and get the dash cover off to put the radio in because the shifter ****. You have to work with it moving the steering wheel up and down while holding the brake and shifting the **** it’s a task.
If I haven’t fully answered your question sorry add some pictures and I could help ya some.
