Default 1997 Chevy S-10 2.2L engine troubles

I blew my timing chain just recently and put a new gone on. When I tried to start it, it runs as if I am missing a cylinder and the exhaust is a bluish and smells heavily of gas. It will not start unless I put my foot on the gas. It will not run at idle sometimes, other times it will idle fluctuating between 900 & 1200 rpm. 2000+ rpm the engine runs smooth but pops every so often. Still blue exhaust though.

I have checked to ensure plug wires are still connected, all of the connectors are still plugged in, and hoses connected. I took it all apart to make sure I got the timing right and didn't accidently go a tooth out of phase. Everything looks as it should. Could you give me an idea as to what to check or do next?

You Blew the timing chain? Did you pull the head to check if any of the valves got bent in the process? Any time the timing goes out of sync it is a good idea to check for internal damage.

Was trying to avoid that part. Working in a garage with no heat and 10-20°f weather. They're calling for -30 windchill tonight. Oh well, will have to look.
Thanks!
Any other ideas anyone?

a compression test will tell you quickly if u have a problem there, instead of pulling the head
also when working on it, why not get it to opperating temp? makes it nice to work on in cold weather

Took OBDII tester to it and it is indicating a fault in the camshaft pos sens and low signal in camshaft pos sens. Going to test and see if it's bad, but need to know where this bugger is on my 2.2L I4 engine. I know it needs to be inline with the camshaft somewhere, but Haynes does not show where it is on this engine model.

I couldn't find an exact location but i did find a reference to it being on the back of the block. Hope this helps a little.
