hey guys, i recently just purchased a 1997 s-10 with the mpfi 2.2 I bought it off a buddy for $150 and it has about 150k miles on it. It is hard to start and he said doesnt run when its warm. I have it running somewhat, it may take 3-4 times of starting to keep it running at idle. otherwise it wil chug chug stall. once it is running you cant really give it more gas with out it spitting and chugging quite a bit and stalling most of the time. I foudn that if i pump the pedle lightly it will climb rpms a little bit and you can slowly do that to the floor but if u hold it about half throttle it will be good for a second then cough again and die also if u let up the on the pedel fast it will die too. I bought a fuel filter, coils, wires, plugs, pcv and am putting some seafoam in the gas tank to see if it helps out a little bit, that way i can rule out that stuff as well. any common problems with these engines? what else should i look for? I am a mechanic of 3 years just maily suspension and steering components along with alignments so motor work is a little differant for me. could the fuel pump be slow?? vac leak? The truck had no codes stored when i checked so i thought if it was a vac leak there would be a lean code? could the cat be plugged causing heck? if the fuel pump is slow why does it start and run i thought tho? any ideas of what to check out next guys??? any help would be great .. thanks

When its not running, what is missing....spark, or fuel? or both? And make sure you not only check for fuel pressure, but also that the injectors are firing with a noid light

hey i dont have noid lights but it is not a constant miss, i put the fuel filter in today and it runs a little better but big time heistaion and a few rough arears still. i also noticed that i ran it for over 20 min and it did not get too far above 100 degrees on the temp gauge? it was 85 here so that should be plenty of time done you think?? and other common problems?
