Default 1998 S-10 Alternator wont kick in

Hello, I am at a loss here. I have a 1998 S-10 pickup, automatic, 2-wheek drive. The battery is new, the alternator has been check twice and is ok. I just cant get the alternator to kick on. It will start, after being jumped, but wont charge up. It was taking longer and long for the alternator to kick on until today, I waited 40 mins and it would not work. Even the heater wont blow out as much as it does once power kicks in. I am not sure why the alternatator wont kick on, or the batter wont charge. Please help out a newbie

Who checked the alternator? Are you sure it is working properly? If it is then you have to check the wiring to the alternator. loose connections, corroded connections and broken wires will cause your problem.

If you have full battery power on the fat wire on the alternator, then the voltage regulator exciter wire (one of the wires in the plug) could have a bad connection in the plug, or be broken further down the line. There should be battery voltage at the exciter wire.
