Default 2.2 1998 No Reading On Gas Gauge; Gas Tank HAS Gas

My 1998 2.2L manual transmission S-10 will not start. Gas gauge reads empty, but just put at least 5 gallons in and pretty sure there was over a half a tank before that. No whirrling noize from fuel pump when key turned on. Engine rolls over with starter so it's not the battery. Do not understand why gas gauge reads empty..?

Hayes manual says to check 1) Check Fuel Pump fuse - Good. 2) Check Fuel Pump relay, can't find in glove box and not clear what to do when I find it. 3) Bypass Fuel Pump relay by jumping from battery to red wire Fuel Pump test terminal, can't find test terminal in engine compartment near driver's side. 4) Drop gas tank is next to get to Fuel Pump/Fuel Level unit, but would rather not if there is an easier way to verify the Fuel Pump/Fuel Level unit is working.

HELP!

You will have to find the fuel pump relay. Check the fuse box under the hood to see if its in there. If its bad, replace it, if not, replace fuel pump.

Default UPDATE Help: 2.2 1998 No Reading On Gas Gauge; Gas Tank HAS Gas

UPDATE: Took bed off truck and Fuel Pump Works when power applied to Grey wire. Fuel Pump Relay swapped with Horn relay and is good. No power going to Grey wire from Fuel Pump Relay to Fuel Pump when key turned on. Anyone know why? Is there a Fuse somewhere? The Hayes manual says there is an ECM Bat 9 20 AMP fuse, but cannot find it in either Fuse block location (in engine compartment & next to steering wheel). Fuel Gage never works either even when power applied to Purple wire.

Gas gage may have vibrated a solder joint. Investigate that and it may be the case.
