2000 s10 ext cab v6
One day, temp. went to 230, next day knocking, took straight to mechanic, bad engine and no water in radiator.
My questions are: I am a woman of this vehicle. Would it be worth to put another motor in it or better for me to sell it as is? I need something to drive.
Also if keeping it is the way to go, what engine should I put in it? new or rebuilt?
I am on a budget but want to drive a vehicle that needs to last me for some time.
Also what years engines can I look for?
I enjoyed driving that little truck. Body is decent, it is white, it has the rubber floor throughout, and leather interior. I am sick over this! What would you do????

rebuilt engine for this should be less than $2k, i would think. which is about what you might pay for another vehicle that's remotely reliable. the v6 is a very common motor. easy to find. you may be able to find a good used motor too. check local wrecking yards and local craigslist. i think the decision is all up to you. if you really like the truck, put a motor in it. or look around and see what it might cost for the same truck. good luck
Hi maxxman04, the motor has been installed! Got one locally from the nearest wrecking yard, cost $600 + tax = $646 + had to use my pan from my motor which I was going to have to anyway. Mechanic installed, labor + parts = $750. Total = around $1400...whew!
Mechanic said motor skipping, 3rd cylinder, but "should" clear up as it is driven. I'm letting hubby drive it, he has a 'long' commute. If it does not clear up, then will have to use the injector from my old motor. I think that is right
I'm not engine fluent
)
But that is where I'm at so far, I just wanted to let you know since you were so helpful.
