My S10 has startes stalling while I am driving and I am stumped. It is very random. It can happen a few times a day or once a week. It happens after the engine is warm. The engine cuts off as if the key is turned to the off postion, however the dash lights and gauges are still powered. Usually it starts right back up. Sometimes it will start after a few minutes.

Where do I start?

 

Sounds like you may have a fuel delivery or fuel quality (water) problem.
Run the codes on it at autozone or some other auto parts store and report back to us what you come up with and me may can help you from there. It could be a problem with the computer's control of the ignition timing.

 

Check engine light is off, no pending trouble codes. New fuel pump and filter. The fuel pressure with the engine not running is 60psi, with the engine running it is 53psi.

No I am still having problems, it is still stalling. I just did what you said and reported back that I have no codes.

Sounds kinda like you are losing compression, but then it would do it all the time when it warms up....
just thinking aloud here...

Could still be something wrong with the ECM even with no codes.
If you could get the IAT, throttle position, and timing stats with a diagnostic scanner, that would be better.

 

I had a similar problem with my 94 S10 blazer and an 87 Monte SS. Both times it ended up being the pickup coil in the distributor.
