I am currently purchasing a 350ci / 330hp '350 H.O.' engine for my 1997 regular cab S10. Right now i am stuck and do not know what type of transmission i should purchase. please give any supportive advice on the type of transmissionand where i might be able to purchase it. also any other information needed for the swap would be great. thanks

automatic or standard? for an automatic you have to decide what you want to do with the truck, then your choices are the TH350, or the 700R, or the 4L60, or the 4L60E.... depends on the year the engine and what wiring you want to do, is it a street truck, 4X4... show truck... DD.

if you go with a manual transmission, and a carburator, you only require 4 wires I think to make it run.. (someone correct me here cause i havnt done this type of job in a while).. you just need to tell your starter to turn (you dont even need to use a key if you dont want to). and when your engine cranks you need a signal from your engine to your coil and your coil to your distributor. i will look in one of my books to see if i can find a wireing diagram that will work for you.
