Default 83 S-10 loosing power after warm up

I just helped my buddy move 200 Miles, at about 150 miles his pickup started loosing power. He couldn't go over 40MPH. So we pulled over, and he shut it down. After a while, we started off again and it was fine for another 10 miles. At first we thought it was because he went past the 1/4 tank. When he pulled in to the gas station it stalled on him, causing his brakes to fail. I got it started again and it didn't feel like it wasn't getting gas. It felt like a misfire of some sort, but from over heating?! No over heating lights came up.

I'm just wondering are the factory carbs on these pickups known for warping?

1983 Chevy S-10 2.8L v6 with maybe 110,000 miles on the original engine.

Another thought, I'm also thinking because he went to a 1/4 tank that it might be a clogged filter?

Any thoughts would be appreciated, I'm kinda scratching my head about 200 miles from the truck.
