85 s-10 runs rough on idle
so i picked up a 85 s-10 for 1000 bucks its in mint shape only has 107 000 kms on it, now i did a tune-up on it fuel filter plugs wires cap and rotor, now it runs rough on idle, i went over the firing order like 100 times, its good. im now thinking two things, carb needs work or vacuum leak.
its got the 2.8, can you guys tell me if youve had this problem before and how did you fix it?!
thanks
Phil

man i have a 85 with the small v-6 and there is a ton of vacuum hoses .i would make sure they are all on first .as they get old and with heat they would collapse so i replaced every one ,one at a time to avoid confusion . i don't know if you set they timing but the distributor bolt is a bit##h to get to . that was they year between injection and computers ,check the carb base gasket bolts to see it they are tight .some times they have to be replaced . try dusting some spray carb cleaner around the base and hose connections .
another thought ,if you have or had air conditioning check the idle speed if it has a carb ,and the fast idle solenoid to see if it works (it kicks on when the defroster's are on ) make sure there is power to it when the defrosters are on maybe the solenoid is bad .and does the choke work ?
