Default '86 S10 2.5L EST error code 42

Hey all, I'm gettin error code 42 - electronic spark timing, it has a new distributor in it, any ideas?

I'm pretty sure there is an ESC module..Electronic Spark Control

I recently had code 42 on my 88 S10 4.3L. In a roundabout way here's what I had to do to fix it:

Replaced Distributor with another from junkyard>

Located the single wire that disengages the computer from timing the spark (brown/w black stripe,inside cab under dash by the heater) it was unplugged? probably cuz someones foot kicked it.-Plug it back in.


Unhooked negative battery post for 20 secs.

Thats what I did to fix my #42 issue.
