96 s-10 slow acceleration
I have 96 s-10 manual transmission, this past friday I drove from atlanta back down to tampa...
The whole trip the truck was running great about a mile from my house back here in tampa i noticed it seemed to be running at a high rpm, but very very slow to accelerate. No warning indicators or anything came on. Drove it around the neighborhood a couple times since, and the same thing is happening. Takes forever to accelerate, and once it gets up to about 50-55mph seems to be topping out. Just bought the truck a few months ago from a good friend that i knew took care of it. Lots of parts have been replaced as well as just had a tune-up. The only thing that I was aware of that needed to be replaced was the spark plugs/wires because he said that when he ran it through a carwash from time to time the wires would get wet, and one or two of them were cracked, so when they get wet the truck lags for a little bit. Could this be my problem? Could it be a transmission problem? Or something worse?

RE: 96 s-10 slow acceleration
A little more info would be nice. What engine is it? How many miles on the truck? What transmission do you have?
I would check for fuel pressure first unless your hearing a dead miss in the motor.
