Default 97 s-10 multiple cylinder misfire

The truck has a multiple misfire code. Vacuum hose are old but not leaking. The exhaust is shooting black globs of carbon out. The spark plug wires look almost new. I'm not a car mechanic but is there anything else I should be checking. Would a bad catylic converter cause a misfire? Someone metioned a spider injector. Are they known for going bad?

no the cat would not cause a miss fire. what motor does it have? if its the 4.3 get the distributor checked. mine had a random cylinder misfire and it was the teeth that drive it were wore out so it was stopping between pins and firing 2 cylinders at once. weak spark wont burn fuel. the spider injectors do go out. but if there is excessive carbon thats unburnt fuel probably. check your plugs and wires
