backfires and stalls at low rpm
Dear honored font of wisdom:
I have a 94 chevy s-10, 4 cyl. it starts hard, stalls when I let the clutch out, backfires and won't idle. I just replaced the head, head gasket, and ran head sealer through the radiator. it ran a bit better (it idled nicely) for awhile (maybe because it was warm). I suspect the backfire might be steam from a leak that didn't seal up completely and it seems to be getting worse. The longer it runs under a load (driving down the driveway & back) the weaker the power & more easily it dies, if I let it sit for a couple of minutes it starts again and will make it back to the garage. I cleaned the throttle body and smoke tested it. It has no codes (except 12). The idle valve seems to work but the plunger was covered w/ crud till I wire brushed it off. didn't make a difference. If you've had any of these problems, what did you do?
thanks.
