Doing a 4.3 vortec swap into my 89 Mazda B2200
Hello everybody, this is my second post.
I am swapping a vortec 4.3 V6 into my 89 Mazda B2200, It will have a turbo 350 transmission. The factory gear ratio for the truck with 205/75/14's is 3.909:1
Currently the truck has 225/60/16's
The vortec 4.3 I have has the numbers 10066061, It's a Towanda manufactured engine, T241, one of the code's is, 4.3LG is also on the block.
From research I have found.... the truck was a TBI engine, with 170 HP and a roller camshaft with 4 bolt lifter retainer, and the oil pan is NOT CAST, it is metal.
Now for my questions:
First off I need an ECU, I have looked on ebay for some. What year would be best suited for this engine? I am looking for a compromise between performance and economy (if that is possible...lol)
Secondly: I need the wiring harness for the ECU and all the sensors. I was wondering if the ECU harness from a V8 Chevy would work?

Depending on your plan, you don't have to use an ECU if you don't want to. I once put a 4.3 in a Suzuki Samurai and used a stand alone (non computerized) distributor and converted over to carburetor. Now, if you're planning on keeping it TBI, that's a different story, but you can still use a stand alone distributor.
