Engine pull questions
I have a Chiltons manual for a 96 4 wd 4.3 L vortec engine instructions and not quite sure what the following means, not getting a good picture of what they are saying:
" On 4wd models remove the front drive axle bolts and roll the axle downward "
Where are these located, and why does this need to be done ?
" On 4wd models loosen the front body mount bolts " Why does this need to be done ? particularly if trans is staying in vehicle when engine pulled ?
Thanks

if you have std trans it will need to be pushed back and lowered to get the engine out. with an auto trans the extra room will make it easier.
sounds like they are removing the front driveshaft
they may be lifting the cab to make room for engine removal without moving the trans back.
