Default Fuel pump

The fuel pump of my 1996 S-10 blazer continues to run after the engine has stopped it goes on like 5 seconds then it stops, I guess that it might be the fuel pump relay, but my questions is that . . .
Can the truck get affected by this? Should I change the relay before anything else happens? are there any consequences if I don't do anything about it?

Default RE: Fuel pump

It is a normal condition.....it is priming the fuel lines for the next start. these vehicles are very finiky about their fuel systems....if there is just a slight loss of pressure they won't start\run bad
