fwd noise

noise in front end sounds like partially engaged gear. I can get the noise to stop by slowing to 20 mph and shifting to fwd hi and back to 2wd. any ideas?

It helps to list a year model... Could be wheel bearing or cv axle.... I have seen people put the wrong geared rear end in their 4wd and it makes all kinds of noise.
