I have a 97 chevy blazer and the heater will come on but it wont switch to defroster

More than likely it is the mode door actuator. Check the actuator and make sure the door is not stuck and moves freely.

The mode door opens and closes to direct the air to the correct vent. It is located under the dash on the passenger side, but I am not sure exactly where on your Blazer. You can Google it or look on Youtube.
