I'm in the process of changing the intake manifold gasket and noticed that the aluminum intake manifold is pitted in the seal area around cylinders #1 and #2. Can the gasket surface be machined to get rid of the pits? I'm talking around removing.005 to.010 inches to clean up the gasket surface. I am afraid that the new gasket won't seal for very long in those areas.
