If you have a loose tailgate when shut. Not a tight fit. I have solved my loose tailgate. I took a piece of heavy duty black garden hose and cut 2 10/8" pieces. The old foam piceces that have deteriorated on the latch cut them off. Grease the 2 10/8" pieces and slide them down over latch guard all the way down and under where the old foam pieces rested. Problem solved no more loose tailgate when closed.

 

why not move the striker...moving it forward tightens the tailgate.
