I have had a problem with surging when getting on the highway and got to a point where I had a hard time getting up a hill, checked fuel pressure; it was low so I changed the fuel pump and filter. started right up. took it for a ride, the surging was worse but with more power, and it seems like the tranny doesn't want to shift(just had that rebuilt 2 years ago). with the truck in Park and revving the engine I hear a loud knocking noise. put a scan tool on it and comes up P0300 . checked for vacuum leak, found none. After running I can smell burnt rubber from under the truck.

 

That code is misfire, is it the only code?

 

One thing you can try, take WD-40 and spary the plug wires, and coil pack plugs. If it is moisture that will cause your symptoms. Is there a chance of bad fuel?

 

that is the only code and I have tried 94 oct. for gas and dry gas.
