Default odometer problem

so on my 1999 jimmy (not a Chevy i know...) my odometer display has been acting up for about a month now. At times I'll start the truck and odometer display will stay black and sometimes after a while of driving it will pop back on. Other times the odometer will come on when I start the truck and stay on. Seems like some kind of loose connection somewhere.

Does anyone know if this is common or if there's a common fix for this like on the older f150's where you re-solder a pin on the odometer circuit board. Any ideas?

not 100% sure on the jimmy but i know the silverado/sierra trucks had a bad batch of gauge clusters in the early 2000s, many had to be replaced, including my own at GM's expense. if you search our TSB's up in the top right corner of the menu bar you may be able to find the answer
