question about my s10 engine
hi i recenly bought a 97 chevy s10 2.2L. im interested in putting more power into my car but i was wondering what would be a better choice. keeping the 2.2 L engine or swaping it with the standard v6 engine. im not sure what the weight to power ratio would be with that engine please let me know if you have any thoughts. thank you

RE: question about my s10 engine
depending on the rear gear ratio, a factory 4.3 S-10 will reach 60mph in around 9 seconds. Seeing as yours might have a lower ratio, as it is a 4 cylinder, a 4.3 may get your truck up to 60mph even faster than that.
so, yes, the 4.3 is a wise choice. The 2.2 was never designed to be anything noteworthy. but why stop there, drop in a 350 and enjoy yourself.

RE: question about my s10 engine
Yeah I would do that it’s just I am not too familiar with how to drop a completely different engine in it. I would be able to replace a factory engine probably. Is it generally the same kind of concept or would I have to change the wiring or the engine mounts or anything like that? Thanks for the message it’s greatly appreciated.

RE: question about my s10 engine
Also how much do you think I would be able to get a 350 engine for? I work a lot with Volkswagen cars so I am not too familiar with anythingaboutengines like that. Alsodoyou know how much it might be for me to finda used 4.3replacement engine?
Thanks

RE: question about my s10 engine
take it to somebody you trust who has done something like that before, and see if you can't noodle the details out of them. Thats what I do.
