Default Rough Idle / Loss of Power

I have a 2000 Blazer 4.3L engine with 100,000 mi., I replaced the intake manifold gaskets about 1,000 mi. ago, runs fine untill I started it the other morning (it had been setting in the garage for 5 days), the engine has a rough idle & check engine light is on, I drove it & when I accerated the check engine light started flashing with loss of power. Has anyone had these problems. Thanks Gordon stough.gordon@gmail.com

Haven't had that problem but it sounds like a fuel pump problem. Also might want to check your EGR system.

Could be an EGR problem. Small motors are inherently sensitive to vacuum problems. Could be stuck EGR valve.
Either that or an electrical problem. Knowing the fault code would help in narrowing it down a lot. EGR will set a recognizable code on gas engines. Returns as code 53. That means low vacuum at the EGR valve sensor. Might also check all your vacuum connections.
Can read codes by placing a jumper wire between terminal A & B on the ALDL under the dash. After connecting the wire turn the ignition on and count the engine light flashes. There will be a pause between flashes. Usually begins with code 12, one flash then two flashes. That lets you know its working, it's also the code for no engine speed. Some ECM's also end with code 12.
Terminals A & B are the two upper right terminals. Here is a list of codes;
code 13-oxygen sensor circuit
code 14-temp sensor circuit short
code 15-temp sensor circuit open
code 21-throttle sensor voltage high
code 22--throttle sensor voltage low
code 23-short or open in mixture control solenoid circuit
code 24-open or short in speed sensor circuit
code 25-MAT signal is low
code 32-barometric pressure signal voltage is low
code 33-low vacuum in MAP sensor
code 34-MAP or vacuum sensor has circuit problem
code 35-idle speed control circuit
code 41-no distributor pulse to ECM at specified vacuum
code 42-electronic spark timing bypass circuit grounded or open
code 43-ESC timing retarded
code 44-lean exhaust
code 45-rich exhaust
code 51-faulty PROM chip
code 54-short in mixture control or faulty ECM
code 55- problem with ECM
