On my 2000 s 10 I just got, tried to see if it has any codes stored in the computer and found that there the data link isn't working, tried it on another car so scanner is working. What could my problems be?

The most likely cause is a blown fuse that powers the port. Check your fuses and the mostly likely one would be the cigarette lighter fuse or an accessory fuse.

Thank you for the answers, it will help me a lot. Backing up data is vitally important. Saving time and effort while doing it, is equally crucial. It seems to me very important to have on hand a good software for saving your data https://thinkmobiles.com/blog/best-d...ging-software/ Here you can see examples of programs and choose for yourself something suitable.
