Default S-10 rear window

The rear window on my son-in-laws 1998 s-10 p/u was broken out by hail. His insurance has a $500 deductible, so we were thinking of trying to replace the entire window ourselves. Is this a difficlt job or something a couple of amatuers could do.

It is not that difficult a task, but in my opinion, you should research it thoroughly. I believe that the 2nd gen windows were installed with urethane rather than the rubber seal, and that can be a little tricky if you have never replaced one. Not sure about your insurance, but I just lowered my deductible on the collision down to a $50 copay for roughly $50 more for a six month term. The window and urethane will cost probably less than $200 if you do it yourself.
