Default S10 troubles

Hi All,

I have a 2002 S10 Pickup 4.3 v6 4x4 LS Extended Cab. The problem is that randomly the check engine light came on and the truck started missing, then it died and wouldn't start for about ten minutes (when I say not start I mean that the starter wouldn't engage, click, anything. However, the dash lights were on so the truck had power...checked the battery connections and they seemed good. Then all of the sudden, after 10 minutes, the truck started back up, no check engine light, I drove it back home and jacked it up to check connections, they seemed ok. Then I started it back up again and the check engine light popped back on and it started missing again...also when I hit the gas a little bit the "bright lights" indicator came on on the dash cluster and then would disappear when the truck idled back down...Any help would be appreciated....could a faulty computer cause these symptoms?? (what about the dash light?)

To me it sounds like a battery or cabling issue. The alternator could also be at fault.
