2003 blazer heater system

2003 blazer heater system
Dunno about this one folks. We took a friends 2003 blazer on a 450 mile trip today. Yesterday we went over everything to make sure it was working. Come to find out his wife said the heater was not blowing heat.
We ended up adding 2.5 quarts of oil to the engine. (Wife said she just got oil changed recently). and topped off the engine coolant. Sure enough when we started up the vehicle, the heater would not put out any heat. Friend of mine suggested the heater core might be blocked up.
This morning we checked oil before heading out. No decrease in amount. Heater did not blow hot air at all. Drove to location 225 miles away. Stopped and refilled gas tank, checked oil. Oil level unchanged. Heater started putting out SOME heat, but nothing really hot.. Got back home. Checked oil again, Unchanged. Heater stopped putting out any heat and went back to blowing cold air..
Any idea???
