I have a loose wire that's attached to the loom bundle behind the alternator. it has a 3 plug socket on the end. there doesn't seem to be anywhere to stick it. It might go to the crankshaft sensor which is rumored to be under the harmonic balance, but it's not evident though there's a hole there (but no plug). I may have the location information wrong. The knock sensors I looked up have 1 prong and the crankshaft sensor has 2. The car won't accelerate well and runs like crap, can I please have some suggestions?

Ok. it goes to the thermostat. car still runs bad. obd1 says no problems.
